10 Questions on Taiwan Question (Part 7)

【In disregard of China’s solemn position and firm opposition and with the connivance and arrangement of the US government, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi went ahead with the visit to China’s Taiwan region. This reckless move seriously infringe on China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and severely violated the one-China principle and the three China-US Joint Communiqué. The Chinese government has taken lawful and justified countermeasures to uphold its sovereignty and territorial integrity. However, instead of self-reflection and admitting its mistakes, the US side made absurd remarks and even put the blame on China like a thief crying “Stop thief!” The Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe is going to publish a series of articles to share the truth, introduce China’s clear position and expose lies, so as to set the record straight.】

Q7: Which country will make compromise on its sovereignty and territorial integrity?

There is no room for any country in the world including China to concede or compromise on its sovereignty and territorial integrity, which are its core interests.

There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is part of China. The Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the entire China. This is at the heart of the one-China policy. The one-China policy is an established international consensus and widely accepted basic norm in international relations. It constitutes part of the post-WWII world order and is affirmed in UNGA Resolution 2758.

In disregard of China’s repeated serious representations and strong opposition, the U.S. side insisted on arranging the third highest-ranking official of the U.S. government to pay the so-called “visit” to China’s Taiwan region, connived at and supported the “Taiwan independence” forces and even threatened China. The U.S. side seriously violated China’s sovereignty, crudely interfered in China’s internal affairs, and deliberately sabotaged peace across the Taiwan Strait. Therefore, China is justified in taking necessary countermeasures and has announced sanctions on Pelosi and countermeasures in response to her visit to Taiwan.

Resolutely safeguarding China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is the firm will of the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people. To achieve China’s full reunification is the shared aspiration and sacred duty of all Chinese people. In the face of the great cause of national unification, the Chinese people have the gut not to be misled by fallacies or scared by evils, the ambition to never be intimidated or crushed, the determination to unite as one, and the ability to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and national dignity.

Next Question: “Who was extensively supported and who should be condemned by the international community related to the Taiwan Question?” is coming tomorrow.
