Former Dynamos and Black Rhinos striker Tawanda Macheke has signed for South African Premier Soccer League side Maritzburg United.
The 25-year-old gunman signed a 2-year deal with the South African outfit last week.
In an interview with Review and Mail Sport, Macheke said:
“I am happy with this move because it is a step forward. To be honest I want to be a better version of myself every day, but I do not want to put myself under pressure.”
“I will take each game as it comes and then see how it goes but obvious, I hope for the best,” said Macheke.
He also added that it was a dream come true to play for Maritzburg United.
“It is still a dream, being here it is a step forward I still have a lot to learn and achieve so I have to work hard in order to achieve my dream.
“My target is to fix the seed and the yield will fix itself, so I will focus on what is at hand.” said Macheke.
Macheke played for Dynamos from 2016 to 2019 then he moved to Black Rhinos in 2021 where he scored 4 goals and 4 assists in 8 games.
The going has not been easy for Maritzburg United who are lying in 13th position in the 16 team league.
Macheke is one of the five new signings the team has roped in in a bid to improve results as the South African league enters the second half of the season.
