Mhondoro Ngezi Platinum Stars unveiled Benjani Mwaruwari, Tinashe Nengomasha Takesure Chiragwi, Bongani Mafu and John Vera as their new technical team.

Benjani comes in as the head coach and he will be assisted by Takesure Chiragwi and Bongani Mafu while Tinashe Nengomasha and John Vera serve as the team manager and performance analyst respectively.

However, it might take time before Benjani sits on the bench for Ngezi as reports say the former Manchester City forward doesn’t hold the requisite CAF A license.

Meanwhile, ambitious Premiership side Bulawayo Chiefs parted ways with their assistant coaches Mark Mathe and Farai Tawachera by mutual agreement.

This comes after the side has been struggling to collect maximum points as they have gone for six games without winning.

On the continental scene, Egypt and Liverpool forward Mo Salah missed from 12 yards as Senegal crushed Egypt’s World Cup hopes.

In a dramatic penalty shoot-out as the African champions won by 3-1. Thomas Partey spoiled the party for Nigeria as his crucial away goal placed Ghana on the flight to Qatar as the two sides drew 1 all with Ghana making it on away goals rule.

The playoffs turned out to be largely close affairs as the away goals rule came into effect once more as Cameroon broke the hearts of Algeria as Karl Toko Ekambi snatched victory on the jaws of defeat to send Rigobert Song’s team to the World Cup.

Tunisia and Morocco dominated as former held onto a 0-0 draw against Mali to prevail on aggregate whilst the latter sent a message as they thumped DR Congo by 4 goals to 1.
