Gems wing attack, Beaula Hlungwane has dedicated her player of the match award to her team mates.

Hlungwane was named player of the match after the teams 43-33 win over tricky Tanzania in third round of the Netball World Cup Qualifiers being held at the University of Pretoria, Rembrant Hall in South Africa.

The win over Tanzania means the Gems are through to the semi-finals of the tournament.

She has become the second player in the Gems team to be rewarded player of the match award after Tafadzwa Matura was named twice.

In an interview after the match, Hlungwane said the win could have not been possible without her fellow team mates who are showing a great fighting spirit.

“I am happy with this achievement. The recognition came at a time when we are all trying to get the best for our country. We have fought hard as a team and the results are coming out perfectly well.

“I give this award to my team for the team work and also to the fans for their continuous support.”

The Glow Petroleum player said the award was just a proof of how hard work can pay off

The star has featured in all Gems games since the beginning of the tournament.

“This game, like every other game we have played, is not easy. It takes us extra effort and that fighting spirit to come out with positive results. We all want the best for our country.

“We are going to qualify for the World Cup, there are no two ways about that. We just need to win all our games and we are through. I am happy that we are now in the semi-finals.”

The Gems play South Africa in their final game in the group stage.
