THE Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) is set to launch its four-year- strategic plan that is expected to elevate the sport in the country.

This comes after the association hosted a three-day strategic planning workshop from February 11-13 at a local hotel in the capital.

The strategic planning workshop, which was described as a road map for taking the sport forward will run from 2022-2026 and is aimed at ensuring that the activities and programs of the ZGA are strategically positioned and are responsive to the current environment wherein things must be properly planned for.

ZGA president Martin Chikwana said they are focusing on golf development, organizational excellence and resource mobilization as their key performance areas.

“Indeed we had our strategic planning workshop and we have a document. Our next step is to put it before our Management Committee and the Board thereafter for ratification. Only after that process would we launch,” he said.

Chikwana said the association has approached its partners with regards to implementation of the plan and are waiting for their response.

“We have approached our traditional partners R &A as well as our usual partners in the corporate world,” he said.

Golf is one of the favourite sports in the country with Zimbabwe being home to almost 50 golf courses and many golf tournaments which have attracted thousands of tourists into the country.
